Description
The Lathering” is the first album with the Finnish band Solen Skinner. The record is a deep dive into fear, hatred and a kind of religious experience of rebirth.
An abandoned iron mine, dimly lit. The doors close and a Finnish trio strikes terror into the audience.
Despite their name (Danish for “the sun shines”), Solen Skinner are from Finland and are equal parts a performance and a music group. The band’s music is delicate and beautiful, as fragile as a butterfly. Just as you are being lured into their seductive web, the reverse strikes with unbelievably brutal force. And what is it that begins to hiss from the mine shaft; is it the devil himself? It is neither far-fetched nor unfair to compare Solen Skinner to Throbbing Gristle and the pioneers of industrial music.
Their debut album “The Lathering” was recorded live at Krossverket during the Norberg Festival in 2023. The setting is a disused minefield, the audience sits on the floor of one of the old industrial buildings and the feeling, in the middle of a summer evening, is chilly to say the least. This is an experience no one could forget. Solen Skinner’s concert ends in euphoric ecstasy.
Solen Skinner are Tuukka Haapakorpi, Tari Doris and Teo Ala-Ruona.
The LP ‘The Lathering’ is released by Fanfar! in a limited edition of 200 copies.
